but the OP has a super mysterious power that allows him to see the entirety of a development process just by laying his eyes on a screenshot.

You should start creating a degree programme on "common sense programming", I can already see the layout:
Year 1 (gentle introduction): The science of talking; General gibberish principles of programming; labs about typing posts on fansites (level 1: general trolling)
Year 2 (it gets tough now): The meaning behind words; what a programmer looks like and what's his job, roughly speaking; labs about typing posts on fansites (level 2: how to look like a dev)
Year 3 (the final chapter): How to make an impression; What technical terms to use to impress people; the advanced stuff for the dummies; labs about typing posts on fansites (level 3: <3 Linsey)
With people like you at Bellevue, GW1 would be perfect and we wouldn't need GW2!
EDIT: P.S.: makeShinyLoginButton FTW

You can tell a minimum of how long ago they started working on the program simply by looking at which guilds are being randomly generated into that screens top 8.
The Sup players have not qualified for an mAT in [Sup] for quite some time now, and some of them have even left the game. Honor Police [GWPD], I believe was created after the banning of their previous guild because of an inappropriate name Come Honor [Face], which by the way I'm pretty sure Lutz/Protoss was a part of (if not GWPD he was in face), which would obviously make him a very good source for pin pointing how long ago this was.
Now what you want to make of that is your call and quite frankly I don't care if they started this 6 months ago, 12 months ago, or 2 days ago. It is here now and that is that.
If one wants to make conspiracy theorys on how anet takes forever to finish what they start, they are more than welcome to. If you don't agree with it, then ignore them and move on.
But yea, point of this whole post is to tell you how you can conclude something about the development time from that post. The fact that some of the guilds being used existed months ago and don't now.

Prove it. Prove to me that someone has actually been "working on the program" since that screen shot was taken, and define "working on the program". Prove to me that the screenie wasn't taken six months ago for some other reason but came in handy a few days ago when someone started working on the web app.
The display iof flying leaps of illogic based on a screenshot in this thread are making me think I've wandered into a convention of people wearing tin foil hats. Look! Visual proof that shows ANet must have killed JFK!

The Xunlai house upgrade has been a project for some time for Emily Diehl and the rest of the web people at ArenaNet. Just keep in mind they work on all other aspects of the website along with the wiki as well.

So the existance of a screen grab is proof that they have been working on this non stop? i just dont understand how anyone can draw that conclusion.

The inability of most people to understand basic systems development principles continues to astonish me.
Remember that: #of things to fix or add > amount of development time available
Therefore, things are often proposed months/years before they are prioritized for development. Just because a RDD is created doesn't mean that anyone is actually going to develop it, EVER. And if it is, it may be months later. Ergo, the requirements for this change were probably created months ago.

the fanboing in this thread is making me queasy.
Anet is definitely slacking on GW1 lately... stop denying that. Hopefully the reason is because they're devoting most of their attention to GW2, and not that they're understaffed (which is a very good way to kill a project).
I'm not complaining but stop kissing so much butt. I don't even know what the xunlai tournament is nor do I care, but 6months for a web app is definitely a little ridiculous.
